Unions helped sponsor College and High School students from across Connecticut who converged on Wesleyan University April 12, 2008 for an organizing conference against the war in Iraq. Emphasis was on nuts-and-bolts skills and practical methods of activating youth. Ended with a march on the Middletown Armed Forces Recruitment Center. Initiated by CT Opposes the War: www.ctcow.org
Million Doors 4 Peace
September 20, 2008: Activists leave from the District 1199/SEIU office and other sites around the state to canvass neighborhoods against the war. Unions and community groups funded and sponsored the effort, part of a national one-day outreach to the US anti-war majority.

April 4, 2009: Thousands march down Wall Street in NYC on the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "Beyond Vietnam" speech (delivered at the Riverside Church in 1967). Dr. King made the connections between war and poverty, between militarism and racism.
